Stump Grinding and Stump Removal

Ideally tree stumps should not be left in the ground after felling as this can lead to problems with suckering where new shoots arise from the trunk and roots. Completely dead stumps won't form suckers, but they can play host to root diseases such as honey fungus which can spread to other trees and bushes.

Tree stumps can also be unsightly taking up valuable space which prevents any turf, flower bed or driveway from being put in its place. This is where the stump should be ground to below ground level or removed.

The process of stump grinding involves the use of a Vermeer grinder with a circular grinding wheel with hardened teeth which sweeps from side to side causing very little ground damage. Stumps and surface roots are ground well below ground level which allows for easy replanting. The left over chippings can be left on site as excellent organic garden mulch.

The process of a total stump removal usually involves the use of plant equipment. We use our own excavators to carry out this task.

We offer competitively priced quotes for a variety of stump grinding and tree stump removal services.
